Some of you commented on the console table in the post. I've had this midcentury modern piece in my garage for a while. I'm sure you've seen these on Craigslist or at garage sales. I forgot to take a before pic, but this is basically what it looked like, although not nearly in as pristine condition:
I had originally hoped to strip and refinish the wood to something like this:
The wood was in terrible shape, so I had to paint it. I couldn't decide on a color. I've had this Martha Stewart Plumage in my garage waiting to be painted on an accent wall in my bedroom. But, since that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon, I decided to try it on the console and I like the way it turned out. The cream color is an oops paint I picked up at Home Depot. It's a ceiling paint, so it has a thicker consistency and seemed to leave more brushstrokes. I'm not sure a ceiling paint is the way to go on furniture. I finished the piece with a couple of coats of glossy spray-on polyacrylic.
I'm considering adding the gold drawer pulls in the inspiration picture. What do you think?
Here's where I spent my weekend:
Sleeping in this:
We had a great time just being together as a family. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
