Dream Home: Cassie from Primitive and Proper

I'm sure you all know Cassie from Primitive and Proper.  Cassie is a master at refinishing furniture.  She was one of the first "furniture" blogs I started following.  I never thought I would be making over furniture because I am not a natural-born crafter or artistic in any way.  But Cassie's blog helped me realize I could make something beautiful out of an ugly, worn-out piece of furniture.  If you ever have a question on how to paint a piece, Cassie is a guru and willing to share her expertise.  If you haven't already, I encourage you to visit her blog.  You will be in for a treat - especially if you love a good before-and-after.

***********

Hello Saved by Suzy readers!  I am Cassie from Primitive & Proper; I blog about furniture makeovers, my own home, sometimes crafty projects, and sometimes you just have to hold onto your hats!  I am so excited and honored to be here sharing my dream house.  When Suzy asked me to write about it, we had just sold out house and were looking for a new one.  Well, we finally found one, so I thought it would be fun to share the "real" dreams I have for this house!  Our new house has great space, but is slightly outdated.  The kitchen and bathrooms are especially outdated, but we plan to live in this house for may years to come, so we have many years to make all of those dreams come true.

My dream house has lots of space, lots of yard, and is in a beautiful country setting.  For real.  This is the exterior of the house:
3910 HIGHLAND Ave, MYERSVILLE, MD 21773
Charming, isn't it?  The porch is one of the things that sold me right away.  It sits up on a big hill and the view this Fall is going to be spectacular!

I am going to start by dreaming up the room that currently is the biggest eyesore of the house.  The house was built in 1979, and so was the kitchen.  Do you like swirly yellow countertops and coordinating backsplash?  How bout a built into the counter cutting board which screams class!  No?  Me neither!  So I am busy dreaming up ways to make that kitchen more modern and easier on the eyes.  We are thinking of slate floors as they are inexpensive and look good, butcher block countertops, and only base cabinets with open shelving, and one wall of full on cabinets for all of our pantry goods.  Here are some images I have pinned....

And this image is my favorite and a great combination of what we want to achieve...

So we are hoping for something more rustic chic, with natural materials, and soft colors- grays and neutrals and hints of subdued aquas.

For the dining room, I am loving these images....

Oh if i could talk my husband into wallpapering a wall!

As you can see, I love a mix of rustic, modern, and shabby chic.  All of these dining rooms feature a perfect marriage of those elements!

For the living room, I would love the same mix of style.  Here are some of the rooms I love...

I love the rustic vibe of this room with the pops of aqua...

In the master bedroom, I want a peaceful retreat!  Lots of white and gray again!
I love this headboard...

And the white on white of this room...

This room has a fun mid century edge that I like...

And this one has been a long time favorite...

For my kids rooms, there will be much more color!  Emmy and I have already decided on a color scheme or aqua, red, and pink for her new room.... aqua walls with lots of pink mixed in and some pops of red.
Here are some of our inspiration rooms...

Sawyer is ALL boy and his room will reflect his love of Star Wars.  He has this Star Wars bedding, and I love the idea of a galaxy wall...

Love this one...

Classic stripes on the wall would also be awesome...

Now, this house has a guest room which is a step up form our last house!  I am going to base the design of the guest room around a painting one of my very best friends, Andi, painted for me for my birthday.  Here is the direction I would love to go, minus the cowhide rug because those really bug me.

A playroom is also a total necessity for us right now, and we will have one in the finished area of the basement.  I know I want it to be a bright and happy place for a boy and a girl to play.  I love these whimsical  rooms!

There are two bathrooms in our new home and they also are from the 70's... a little scary but livable!  So I will leave you with a breathtaking bathroom I love, but might not work for this home.
This bathroom has made its way around blogland and I can see why.  It is pretty darn close to heaven.

I would love it if you would hop over to my blog and follow me along on this adventure.  Let's see if I can make these dreams our reality.

Thank you again, Suzy, for allowing me to think about my next home and dream a little.  It was so much fun, and came naturally to me as I am a born dreamer!
