On Monday I showed you my inspirations for a DIY painting. Are you ready to see how those inspirations came to life?
Here ya go:
If nothing else, at least it adds some color to a boring niche and it was easy and inexpensive.
Here's how I did it:
I started with a 40" x 24" canvas. I spray painted the entire canvas with my trusty ol' Krylon Coral Isle. I didn't want any white peeking through.
I used some brushes I had on hand and this acrylic paint:
No need to buy any expensive tools. Just use an old egg carton to pour and mix your paint.
Next, I started brushing the colors on in a random pattern. At first I thought I wanted the lines to be really perfect: straight lines and uniform size. I quickly changed my mind and liked the slightly haphazard, messy look better.
When I was done with the multi-colored stripes, it was still missing that little je ne sais quoi. That's a fancy way to say "certain something" or "I don't know what." (Do you read "Fancy Nancy?")
I took some gold metallic paint and randomly painted some squares and stripes.
Oops, looks like I forgot to put the cushion neatly back on the couch after disassembling a fort.
Yes, it's definitely DIY. But, infinitely better than this:
If you've ever considered painting your own canvas, JUST DO IT! It's fun, makes you feel artsy and creative, and you just might like the final product.
