This year, I've been drawn to green, white and silver (especially mercury glass) Christmas pictures. Here are two favorites:
Unfortunately, nothing I have is silver or green or white. Oh, well. I did the best I could with what I have in the niche in my living room.
It started like the picture above, but the crazy colorful canvas distracted from the Christmas feel. So, I covered the canvas in some silver wrapping paper and hung a wreath. Much better, don't you think?
All of the snowmen were gifts from my mom while many of the other things were gifts given to Big K and I at the first Christmas party we hosted as a married couple way back in 1999.
One of my very favorite Christmas things is this nativity. I think the figures are beautiful and I love the gold accents.
Not only is the nativity pretty, it is a reminder of the true reason for Christmas. It is so easy for me, especially as I peruse all of the gorgeous Christmas pictures on your blogs!, to get caught up in the "stuff" of Christmas. Maybe this will be the year, when my family and I can slow down and truly reflect on the spirit of Christmas?!?!? I hope so. But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop reading blogs, so keep the pretty pictures coming.

Wow! This is amazing!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was feeling exactly the same! I love that you used your special treasures, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping it real girl - couldn't agree with you more. I have a collection of items most of which have been given to me and I'll be proudly displaying them this year (at some point). I think your vignette looks great and great thinking with wrapping up the canvas like a present - nice work Suzy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little nook to decorate! It looks great!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I love your solution of wrapping the canvas in paper, great idea!
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea with the wrapping paper. i think having a niche like this would be super fun seasonally decorating! i could make a mean halloween display up in there, i'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThis time of the year, it seems like my whole house is one big family treasure. What we haven't inherited or received as gifts, we've (kids too!) made ourselves. Your vignette is very spirited... I like it. I also fell in love with your nativity set. It reminds me of a couple of angels I have. Would love to know where you got it.
ReplyDeleteSo so clever to cover the picture. I love it. Thanks for joining our party and linking up!
ReplyDeleteI have at least two boxes of miss matched stuff...I know your feeling! I really liked how you put it all together, and the wrapping paper was genius, it really fits right in!
ReplyDeleteIt is all about what the season means to you. I feel sad that our parents our so far away and I have spent just two Christmases with them in the past 10 years. I like the idea of using wrapping paper on the canvas (something I have in the works which I posted about). You have some cute items - the plates, reindeer and that precious family photograph. Stunning Nativity set, too..reminds me of mine a little.
ReplyDeleteYou and I have similar thoughts about decor :) . I love the pinned photos, that first one is so stunning, people are so amazing. Thanks for sharing it! I love your nook too, it is wonderfully put together. So many cute items, and nothing beats remembering those that gave you the treasures. Such a great idea to wrap the photo. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post in the party. I am pinning and tweeting it. And feel free to drop by with more of your lovely Christmas posts if you would like.
