Please Help Me Decide!

Now that the bathroom is done, the project has spilled over into the hallway outside of the bathroom.  The walls and trim of the hallway are looking a little dingy compared to the bright and shiny newness of the bathroom.

The hallway is a bit dark.  Right now it has light khaki colored walls and white trim, the same as almost every other wall in the house (boring!).  The hallway leads to the kids' rooms, so I want it to be light and bright.

I have three choices for the walls and I need you to help me decide.

Choice #1:
Do the same thing as the bathroom: white beadboard wallpaper, white chair rail, and blue-gray paint above.

Choice #2:
Paint horizontal stripes on the wall using the blue-gray color and a slightly lighter (or maybe darker?) color on the paint chip.  I like this wall from Ten June:

Choice #3:
Choice #3 is a combination of the previous two.  I would paint the upper walls a super-light grayish white, put up a white chair rail, and then paint the light gray and darker gray stripes below the chair rail.  It would look something like this:

What do you think?  Do you have a favorite?

  2. I like option 2, I think 3 is also great, but maybe too much for a hallway? Good luck!

  4. Prefer #2. Totally dig #3, but it needs a large room, and not just a hallway I think, just as the previous comment said. Not only would it be to busy, but I think it would make it feel more closed in than it already is, that my two cents ;)
Good luck and can't wait to see it!!

  5. #1! I'm always a sucker for any kind of wainscoting.

  6. My vote is for #3 - it seems like a happy marriage of 1 and 2, plus I feel like that look would suit you and your family best.

  7. Love the stripes, they infuse a sense of fun. Whether you add the wainscoting depends on the size and length of the hallway.

    Keep us posted!

  8. I would choose #3 as it is a different space yet you are tying in some of the colors from the mosaic. Then you have a blank canvas above the chair rail to add your artwork, pics, etc. Do you have sufficient light in the hallway to appreciate a darker gray color?

  9. I am voting for stripes! If it is a long hallway, my vote is with idea #2....with the light/grey combo! Have fun and I am looking forward to it!

  10. My vote is for number 2. I love the horizontal stripes. If the hallway is dark, go lighter on the other paint option. Make it bright and fun for the you and the kids.

  11. My vote is for #1. I heart bead board. I do like the stripe options but I don't know about stripes in a hallway. I seems risky depending on the lighting and size of the hallway.

  12. I agree with #3, that way it leaves the blank canvas on the top half of the wall for hanging pictures, etc. I LOVE #2 and #3 though! Tough choice!!
