DIY Ombre Art

I  had a little "free time" this afternoon.  Instead of doing something useful and productive (like organizing), I decided to create a little ombre artwork in my new favorite color palette, orange and pink.

I recently saw this piece on Pinterest that I really liked and thought I could create something similar.

I used acrylic craft paints and I started by painting the entire background a light pink.  I wanted a more watercolor-ish background, so I added water to the pink paint and then brushed it on heavier at the bottom and lighter at the top of the canvas.

Next, I grabbed some orange paint and painted a few rows of V's along the bottom.   I added some white paint to the orange every few rows to lighten the color as I went up the canvas.

This was so easy!  It probably took half-an-hour at most.

I like how the V's ended up looking like hearts, perfect for my 3-year old's room.  If you look closely, you might even get a sneak peak on a few other projects I've been working on in her room.  More on that tomorrow....

So cool, Suzy!! It's going to look so cute in your daughter's room! And yes - I spy pom pom fringe:)

I love the Outlander series!! I've read them all at least twice. I love historical fiction anyways, but these are even so much better than that because of Jaime and Claire and their love story..so romantic!!
