Chair Feature
I'm so excited that my blog friend Carmel featured some of my chairs on her blog today. She has a great blog and lots of fun projects and features. Today, she has a great feature where she showcases chair makeovers. Go check it out here:
Feature Friday #2
Happy Friday friends! The girls and I have been enjoying a great week in Minnesota with Grandma and PopPop. But, I haven't forgotten about you and all of your great projects so here we are with our 2nd edition of Feature Friday.
Lisa from the blog Trapped in North Jersey is always painting something or creating awesome design boards. I can't believe the amount of things this lady can accomplish! Our styles are very similar and I can always find something I want to try on her blog. She is currently preparing to move to a new home and it sounds like she will have all of the decorating done before even moving in. She recently hacked the ever-popular Ikea Malm dresser with a pink ombre paint technique.

Lisa provides a great and simple tutorial on how she did this.
She was inspired by the ombre trend that has taken over Blogland and by this dresser in particular:

I love both of these dressers and have a little something I'm planning on ombre-ing in my next kid's room makeover. Stay tuned, but in the meantime go and say "hi" to Lisa.

Get This!
Spray paint has become my best friend. Whenever I want to change up my decor, I grab a can of spray paint and look for accessories to paint. Picture frames, candlesticks, and wall decor are always good candidates for spray paint.
I also like to use spray paint on furniture makeovers. Unfortunately, my sprayer-finger always gets really sore and covered in paint when I paint larger pieces. Until, I met this guy:
It's a spray paint nozzle that fits on any spray-paint can. I LOVE him. I found him at Walmart for only $2.50 packaged like this:
Best of all, my sprayer-finger is no longer covered in spray paint!!!
If you are a spray paint newbie, I would definitely recommend Rustoleum's Painter's Touch. It covers much better than other brands in my humble opinion.
Now, go out and spray paint something!

New Paint!
We (I mean Big K) got the new paint up in C's room. I was working all day and he was home with the girls. The brave man decided it was a good time to paint, with four little girls, three of his own and one visitor.
He has the patience of a saint. Just looking at the picture above makes me anxious...four kids under the age of 8 with paint and rollers. Ack!!
They did a great job. The color is Waterscape by Sherwin Williams.
Her bright-blue desk looks good with the walls and bedding.
I am waiting on some fabric so I can sew curtains and maybe throw pillows. I also have a chair for the desk that needs to be painted and reupholstered. C is horse-crazy and had a horse print that will go back up and I need to find a couple of other pieces (etsy, here I come!) for her walls.
She has the world's smallest bedroom, but at least she has a nice and bright big window.
Final reveal coming soon and I might even throw in some scary before pictures!

Feature Friday and Link Party

C's New Chair
As you all know, I have been hard at work redecorating C's room. The latest addition is a new chair to go with her newly painted desk.
Here's the chair I started with:
My neighbor was having a garage sale last weekend and wanted $50 for her. Uhhh, no thanks! Big K went back later on his own and bought her for $15. That man can bargain with the best of them!
C chose this fabric to go with her new aqua walls:
I took the yucky old tapestry fabric off the chair and spray painted her a glossy white.

I know the style of the desk and chair are pretty different, but I still think they look good for a 6-year old's room. Good fabric choice C! I probably wouldn't have picked it myself, but I'm pleased with how it turned out. What do you think?

I'm outta here!
I like my home to be somewhat organized and orderly. It doesn't have to be perfectly clean, I just can't stand clutter. It makes me anxious when my surroundings get too messy.
My anxiety level has been HIGH lately because I feel like I am in the middle of a million projects and none of them are completed. C's room is torn apart as we redo it. The garage is filled with furniture waiting to be sold or saved. To top it off, we noticed that the carpet on the wall in our bedroom next to the shower was damp. Big K tore up the carpet to see what was going on. Beautiful, huh?
Water was seeping out of the shower and through the wall into our room. YIKES!!!!
This led to us hiring someone to come tear out the shower. Look what loveliness we discovered beneath the floor:
The builder apparently did not do the shower correctly, leading to the floor becoming rotted away. Luckily Big K didn't crash through the rotten floor while taking a shower.
This unexpected renovation means that we are not installing the wood floors in our bedroom right now. All of our budget is going to fix this problem. We are still getting the floors in the living room. Hooray!!
On a positive note, I will be out of town with the kiddos for 2-weeks visiting my parents in the great state of Minnesota. I will have some posts for you, but not every day. Enjoy this last half of June and see you soon!
