A Few of My Favorite Things: Megan from A Lived in Home

Hi everyone! I'm Megan from A Lived in Home and I'm thrilled to be filling in today for Suzy while she's away and sharing a few of my favorite things with you. Believe it or not, my favorite things other than my family and dog, didn't automatically come to me. Now of course we all have our favorite pair of shoes or handbag that we carry, but I didn't want to bore you with those. I really started thinking about what makes my life easier on a daily basis and keeps all the chaos organized. There are a couple sentimental things too that I wanted to share.
This is the girly space in my closet that I recently made over. The table is the Lack from IKEA that I got for a whopping $7. I wanted a space to display some of my jewelry and perfume along with family pics. Something very special about this space is my wedding bouquet. I'm reminded daily of that amazing day.
Now, I'm sure you are looking at this pic wondering why is this lady sharing a pic of her kitchen. Well, I could NOT live without my coffee pot! I have tried several coffee pots in my time and my KitchenAid has never failed me. It's been in use for 4 plus years now brewing my Dunkin Donuts coffee daily to keep me functioning and sane. (And no, neither company paid me to say that!)
Family is so important to me so that's why I'm sharing the gallery wall in my living area with you. I take a million pics so I need a lot of space to share them. It's an easy way to display photos without the clutter of a ton of frames and they are easy to switch out.
This is the rocking chair in Baby A's room that I redid for her here. It's over 30 years old and was mine as a baby. My parents have so many pics of me sitting in it. I wanted to pass it on to her so she can create special memories.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Expedit system from IKEA. This piece of furniture is the best for organization. I used to have paper, note pads, pens, fabric, paint, etc. all over the house in unusual places, but not anymore.
This keeps my office nice and tidy, and it saves me time when I need something. I no longer have to roam the house and rely on my memory to find things. I find myself rearranging quite often and adding more containers to it to house things.
I hope you enjoyed seeing what a few of my favorite things are. Come see more of my home here. Thanks to Suzy for having me.

A Few of My Favorite Things: Kara from A Little Bit of Lovely

I hope you all have been enjoying this series of guest posters as much as I have.  Up today is Kara from A Little Bit of Lovely.  Kara blogs about all of the things that interest me, from parenting and kids to decorating and style.  I know I can always find something fun and/or useful on her blog.  Speaking of funny, she recently posted the most hilarious website called Leisure Dive.  Go check out her blog, I know that you will find something (or lots of things!) that will interest you.

Hi y’all!  I’m Kara from A Little Bit of Lovely and I am thrilled to be guest posting for Suzy today.  Not only is Suzy super talented, but she is one of the nicest bloggers I have met!  The Sound of Music is one of my favorite movies, so I am excited to share with you a few of my favorite things.

The rocking chair in the nursery is definitely one of my favorite things.  Not only do I adore the colorful stripes, but it is seriously the most comfortable chair ever!  I have such wonderful memories of holding, rocking, and singing to my boys in this chair.  When they were newborns, I even did a lot of sleeping here in the middle of the night!  :) Once my youngest graduates to a big boy room, I hope we can re-upholster this chair/ottoman and use it in another part of the house.
Next up is my bedroom.  Although this room is still a work in progress, I love this space and try to keep it as calm and clutter-free as possible.  We have a pillow-top mattress, which I adore, because it because it is like sleeping on a big, fluffy cloud!

I recently made a magnetic chalkboard for our kitchen.  It is a fun place to write little notes, quotes, reminders, etc.  The boys love coloring on it and it is a nice spot to hang their artwork.  It will definitely come in handy this fall for all the calendars, paperwork, etc. when my oldest starts pre-school.
CH

Since I love to cook & bake, I am BFFs with this bad boy.  What did we ever do before our Kitchen Aids?
Thanks for having me today, Suzy!  Hope you all enjoyed seeing just a few of my favorite things.

A Few of My Favorite Things: Mags from The Fancypants

Today we have Mags from The Fancypants sharing a few of her favorite things.  I just discovered The Fancypants last week(!) when I checked out how she turned a spare room in her home into her very own walk-in closet/dressing room.  She gives us a little sneak peek of this awesomeness below.

Once I saw this room, I was hooked and knew I had to see more of what she could do.  I mean, her closet might just be more beautiful than any room in my house.

Here's Mags with some beautiful pictures of her favorite things.

A Few of My Favorite Things: Katie from Craptastic

My first guest poster is Katie from Craptastic.  Not only is Katie super sweet and funny, she is an amazing crafter who is not afraid of color.  When she is not busy creating, she is studying to be a Physician Assistant or jumping off cliffs (go check it out on her blog!).  I'm so glad that she is here to share a few of her favorite things with us today!  Take it away, Katie!

Hey Folks!! I am THRILLED to be hanging out with all of you today!  I'm a big fan of 'The Sound of Music' too, so I am pumped to be a part of the "A Few of My Favorite Things' series this week!!
I'm Katie, from CRAPTASTIC!

CRAPTASTIC

My blog is just a huge compilation of all the crap I love! I have a lot of refinished furniture projects, some crazy crafts, and I'm attempting to start sewing soon!
Here are some of my favorite projects I've done!
1. To the left is a fun chair I just finished! It has an awesome compartment for storage under the seat!
2. I refinished this funky, retro-ish desk for my friend! It reminds me of Slimer from Ghostbusters!
3.  These barstools were refinished for my Mom for Christmas! They look so great in her kitchen!
4.  I found this sweet little chair at an antique store and painted it turquoise! This is how my friends find my house - I tell them to look for the house with a blue chair on the porch! =)
Its always fun to work on projects for friends and family.  You can really see everyone's personalities shine through in their color and style choice!
I've been slowly updating bits and pieces of my home, one project at a time!
Here is an awesome jewelry holder my bestest made for me!
It houes all of my earrings and necklaces, and I keep my bracelets and rings in a tray below it!
I love all the imperfectness of it - so unique!
I just finished this lamp a few days ago! I haven't even posted it on my blog yet, so you all get the exclusive sneak peek! ;)
I think I love it the most when the light is on! The ruffles were made with white muslin - I'll have a tutorial up in a few weeks!  Here is a close-up of the shade!
Now for another exclusive sneak peek!  I found this old door at a yard sale and refinished it to go above my couch in my living room! It really brightens up the space! My favorite part of it is the antique doorknob! I'll have a tutorial on this in a few weeks too!
Next, I adore my Charlie Brown dresser!  I use it in my living room for storage - all my games fit in here!  It seems like almost all of my favorite things come from my living room! :)
Lastly, I wanted to show you one of my favorite products to use:
I LOVE my Minwax finishing wax! I use it on almost all of my projects, especially anything that gets painted a lighter color.  I'm an instant gratification kind of gal, so I love that I can put this on and use the furniture immediately! It creates a beautiful look and really helps protect the project!
I hope you all enjoyed peeking at my favorite things today!! I had so much fun hanging out with you all!  Hope you'll stop by and have a peek around! I would love to have you!
Thanks again Suzy for letting me hang out with you today!
Cheers!
