Cinco de Mayo
Happy Cinco de Mayo friends!
I think I might make some enchiladas for dinner to celebrate, but wouldn't it be fun to have a full on Cinco de Mayo fiesta? Maybe next year I'll get my act together and plan something like this.
These pictures make me want to sing:
We're going to party, karamu, fiesta forever
Come on and sing along!
Please don't tell me I'm the only one that remembers that Lionel Richie song...All night long!

Valentine's Day Ideas
I admit that I don't really decorate for any other holidays besides Christmas and a little bit at Halloween. But, I've seen so many cute Valentine's ideas on Pinterest, I wanted to share them with you.
These wax hearts are from Martha Stewart. Just melt some crayon shavings between two pieces of wax paper and cut into heart shapes.
I have had a Valentine's craft party for the kids in the past and they love to make Valentine's crafts. I think any of these ideas would be fun for kids.
Pipe cleaners twisted into heart shapes to make a garland.
More heart garlands.
Another take on a garland.

You can even take your heart garland and wrap it around a candle.

If you have more time on your hands, glue sequins onto some purchased letters. I bet this would be cute with gold thumb tacks instead of sequins too.
Roll up lots of felt flowers and attach them to a wreath.

I might remove the felt flowers from my all-season yarn wreath and replace them with hearts, like this.

This card would be super cute for the grandparents.
Pass these cuties out in class.
Make these for your Valentine's Day party or for your Valentine.

Have you started thinking about Valentine's Day? Do you decorate for V-day? Do you have any special traditions?

Happy New Year!
I love the start of a new year. It seems like a new beginning, full of possibilities. It is a time to reflect on the year that was and to set goals for the year that is to be. I'll share my goals with you soon, but today I wanted to wish you all the best in 2012. I hope that you achieve all that wish for and most of all that you and your family have a happy and healthy new year!
Here are a few quotes that are inspiring to me:
I saw this on my favorite food/recipe blog, Our Best Bites, and absolutely love this simple, yet powerful, sentiment:
“This year, mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love and then speak it again.” -Howard W. Hunter
Happy New Year!
